Friends,

The smell of autumn is in the air as we all quickly get overwhelmed with the seasons’ to do lists. As always, there are exciting new things to talk about as technologies progress and my practice expands. I first want to welcome Dr. Grant Macaulay to my practice. As a board certified internist and anti-aging specialist, his medical expertise will complement my specialty in cosmetic dermatology and make the 5th Avenue Dermatology Surgery & Laser Center the first of its kind in the country to offer the full spectrum of anti-aging treatments, working from both the inside and out. As you will hear in detail, we have both developed an anti-aging assessment and treatment program aimed at maximizing both the quantity and quality of our lives, enhancing the way we look and feel. Along with the many treatments that we continue to develop here, we are very excited to share our advancements. Once again, I am always appreciative of your loyalty and referrals. I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank

Youth Diagnostics™ – Advanced Health Assessment and Age Management Solutions

Youth Diagnostics™ is an advanced and comprehensive, non-invasive health assessment program that will determine how well our bodies are aging. In doing so, we can harness the scientific advances and technologies for the early detection, prevention, and treatment of age-related problems. To spearhead Youth Diagnostics™ I have recruited Dr. Grant Macaulay, a renowned anti-aging physician, with expertise in nutritional management and hormone optimization. With our program and consultation services we offer the full spectrum of treatment where health, well-being, and beautification merge, maximizing both our inner and outer vitality.

Ultherapy® gains ground and tightens skin

After almost 2 years on the scene, the novel ultrasound technology has fine tuned its treatment protocols and has now proven to be the most effective facial skin tightening device on the market. Done in the office in an approximately one hour treatment, we can tighten all layers of the skin down to the muscle; In many instances replacing and/or putting off surgical intervention. With its overwhelming popularity and our experience we hope to expand its indication to non-facial areas as well. Please refer to our site for detailed information about the Ultherapy® technology.

Advanced Fraxel® Dual Laser Resurfacing

Learn more about Fraxel® laser treatments

Erase the sun damage of summer with Fraxel® Dual

The Fraxel® Dual laser has become the gold standard in treating sun damage, acne scars and wrinkles, completing a full spectrum of skin resurfacing. New studies have proven the Fraxel® Dual to be effective for resistant melasma and to reverse and treat precancerous sun damage called actinic keratosis. Dr. Frank is one of the very few laser surgeons in the country to have the full line of Fraxel® products. Please refer to our Fraxel® website link to see which procedure is right for you.

Erase bruising and minimize scarring

Using the VBeam laser on a recently developed bruise can virtually erase the purple discoloration in a matter of hours, minimizing typical recovery of 1-2 weeks. In addition, recent surgical or traumatic wounds/scars can be treated as early as stitch removal to minimize the scar, the redness and the chances of keloids. Ask Dr. Frank about using this classic laser for novel applications.

Advancements in the battle against cellulite

With technology and techniques improving, we have made vast improvements in our treatment results using a variety of fillers in conjunction with Thermage® skin tightening. Performed without any downtime, Radiesse® and Sculptra™ have proven safe and effective in improving skin dimpling associated with cellulite.

PRP and the Vampire Lift

With all the obsession with vampires in pop culture, the prince of darkness has infiltrated the cosmetic world with what has been called the ‘vampire facelift’. This is nothing particularly new. The vampire facelift is a technology called PRP or platelet rich plasma, a natural portion of blood that can be isolated from patients and injected for various purposes. All the growth factors that circulate throughout the body can be found in the processed blood and theoretically would be of some use. Orthopedic surgeons have used the technique of injecting one’s own blood with mixed success to help healing joints and tendons. As a cosmetic application, we have found very limited to no benefit as compared to the huge success of various fillers on the market. Aside from its limited effectiveness for wrinkles, we do not know the long term effects of injecting any sort of growth factors into the skin. Dr. Frank’s consensus- don’t believe the hype.
