Wrinkle Removal

A wrinkle is a fold or crease in the skin. Skin wrinkles typically result from age, genetic predisposition and most importantly sun damage. Smoking, dry skin, excessive motion, poor hydration, and several other factors may contribute. Although there are innumerous topical options on the market, few have any significant efficacy compared to procedural means. Contrary to popular belief, a facelift does not treat wrinkles, only loose skin. There are several dermatologic treatments using injectables and laser treatments to dramatically improve their appearance.

Botox and Dysport are FDA approved muscle relaxers that address wrinkles associated with motion.

Fillers such as Silicone, Radiesse, Juvaderm, Restylane, Sculptra, and Perlane are used to lift an indentation that wrinkles cause. Fillers can also be used to lift the skin for a facelift type effect. Done non-invasively this is called a filler facelift or FLT procedure.

For a few decades now, lasers have been used to resurface wrinkles on the face and body. Currently, the state of the art technology is Fractional Skin Resurfacing. Although several copy-cat technologies exist, The Fraxel Restore and Fraxel Repair Lasers are the gold standard in safety and efficacy.
