Necklift with UltheraSubmentoplasty, or a neck lift, is a cosmetic procedure used to refine the skin contours of the neck. It is used to treat a “double chin,” unwanted wrinkles, sagging, and poor definition. Most patients that seek submentoplasty are from an older demographic, due to the decrease in skin elasticity with age. In the event that invasive surgery needs to be performed for the neck lift or in conjunction with a face lift, then the risk and subsequent recovery time may be higher than other procedures; however, if the issue being addressed is less severe, new non-surgical techniques may be effective at addressing contour problems of the neck area. Ulthera, or Ultherapy, is a new type of cosmetic procedure that can be used to enhance several areas of the face and body. Its universal function is to stimulate collagen production, the main component of the skin responsible for the firmness and elasticity seen in younger skin. This idea of increasing collagen production has been around since the beginning of cosmetic surgery, but it is only recently that advanced techniques such as Ulthera have been developed for use on any skin type, on virtually any area of the body, and with little to no risk. The most common problem that candidates for neck lift wish to address is an over-wrinkling of the skin. Loose or excess skin may result in an undesirable, sunken appearance. The way to correct this issue is to increase elasticity and volume beneath the skin. For wrinkles of the face, surgery or filler injections are generally the go-to solution. Surgery on the neck is riskier, and patients are often hesitant about having needles near the neck and chin area. Ulthera is a painless procedure requiring no anesthesia, in which Dr. Frank will target the areas you want treated and heat them with controlled ultrasonic waves. This will vibrate the tissues of your skin, causing them to heat up and generate new cells while clearing out older damaged tissue. As the body heals, your skin will achieve new volume, and the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines will gradually disappear. Ulthera is a painless procedure, and any possible side effects are generally minor and temporary. These may include minor redness and swelling, and in a much rarer cases, bruising. All of these side effects wear off in days, leaving only an increasing improvement in your skin’s appearance. There will be no artificial or sudden change in aesthetics that might leave you feeling self-conscious. As your body does its work, you will naturally begin to appear younger and more vibrant in the weeks following the treatment.
