LAVIV™ Treatment in New York

LAVIV is an FDA approved treatment that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scars. LAVIV works differently from other similar cosmetic skin treatments. LAVIV uses the cells of your own body to rejuvenate your skin, rather than using an injectable filler. It causes new collagen to form and improves the healing process for scars. LAVIV is created from cells from your own body, so the chance of an allergic reaction is minimal. You can achieve beautiful, youthful skin more quickly than you can with other skin treatments. The results of LAVIV last longer than those of injectable fillers.

The treatment process for LAVIV is very simple. First our NYC cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank will evaluate the patient to determine if LAVIV is an appropriate treatment for the individual. A complete evaluation by your doctor is necessary to ensure that there will not be any adverse reactions from the treatment. You will need to tell your doctor about your medical history, including allergies, intake of blood thinning medications, bleeding disorders, genetic disorders, malignancy, immune problems, and any other medical problems. You will not be able to undergo the LAVIV treatment if you are suffering from a skin infection, as the treatment could worsen the condition.

Once it has been determined that LAVIV is right for you, the doctor will take a sample of skin from behind your ears, and send it to a special laboratory to be cultured. At the laboratory, the Fibrocell process will be used to create new fibroblast cells. The process of creating the new fibroblasts will take around 90 days. After the doctor receives your LAVIV culture, he or she will inject it into the problematic areas of your skin. The fibroblasts will stimulate the production of new collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin in your skin. During each treatment session, the doctor will direct your LAVIV directly into the nasolabial folds with the help of a small needle. The complete LAVIV treatment will be performed during 3 separate sessions, spaced at intervals of 3 to 6 weeks. Only after the final treatment, you can view the final, visible results. The final outcome of the treatment will last up to seven years without the need for additional treatments. You may experience swelling, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching, lumps, irritation, and redness after the LAVIV treatment. These adverse reactions should resolve on their own within one week.

Acne causes visible damage to the skin because it creates depressions on the skin surface. Acne scars are shallow and wide. According to recent studies, LAVIV may reduce skin depressions caused by acne scars. LAVIV has been proven to treat moderate to severe nasolabial folds in adults; however, the effectiveness of LAVIV in other areas is not yet established.

For any LAVIV treatment, the fibroblasts must be created from your skin cells. Never allow skin cells from another person to be used for the treatment, as it may cause an adverse reaction. Likewise, do not allow anyone else to use your LAVIV sample on their skin. You can increase the beauty of your skin using LAVIV treatment. Dr. Frank is well-experienced and skilled in the field of cosmetic procedures, and an excellent choice for this procedure.
