Leg Vein Treatments
There are various ways to treat small leg veins. Sclerotherapy is still the standard of care despite the available laser technologies such as long pulsed Nd:Yag lasers such as GentleYAG. Lasers tend to have higher complication rates, are more painful, and are more expensive. There are various sclerotherapy agents available as well. Currently Asclera®, or Polidoconol, is the most effective and painless. Salt water, or hypertonic saline, is effective but painful and Sotradecol can be very costly with some associated risks. Vessels larger than 3mm may require surgical intervention or in the least Foam Sclerotherapy which is a technique that can be used with Polidoconol.
