Cellulaze / Laser Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite, which appears as a dimpling of the skin’s surface, is found to some extent in nearly all post-pubescent women. Cellulite is most commonly found on the hips, abdomen, buttocks, and thighs of women and causes the skin to appear lumpy and dimpled. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to eliminate cellulite, despite the most stringent diets and exercise routines. Battling cellulite can become a long and frustrating battle for some women. Given the negative connotations associated with dimpled skin, many women feel a level of self-consciousness and embarrassment about their cellulite. There is no “cure” for cellulite, as it is something that naturally occurs in the human female body; however, there are many ways to manage the severity of the appearance of cellulite on your body.

Laser cellulite treatment is quickly becoming one of the most popular and effective treatments for reducing the appearance of cellulite on the body. Until recently, liposuction was the leading choice for effective cellulite reduction, but liposuction is an invasive procedure that requires general anesthesia and can have a number of side effects. As such, both doctors and patients have been searching for better approaches to cellulite reduction. The recent adoption and use of laser assisted liposuction has been showing remarkable results, with far fewer side effects. Several laser assisted liposuction devices are currently in use in the top dermatological and cosmetic surgery practices, including SmartLipo and Cellulaze. These treatments offer very similar approaches to cellulite reduction. During a SmartLipo or Cellulaze procedure, a tiny tube will be inserted beneath the surface of the skin, above the targeted fat deposits. Attached to the tube is an even smaller laser fiber, which will convey laser energy into the fat deposits to break them down, while at the same time shrinking collagen fibers. Once the fat is liquefied, it can be easily removed via suction. The result is similar to traditional liposuction, but the process is much easier for the patient.

SmartLipo and Cellulaze are minimally invasive procedures, which result in far less bleeding and bruising than traditional liposuction. Additionally, while liposuction requires general anesthesia, SmartLipo and Cellulaze require only local anesthesia and mild sedatives. The treatments typically last about 30 to 45 minutes and results can be seen in as few as one session. In some cases, as many as three sessions may be required, spread over several months. The side effects of SmartLipo and Cellulaze are fairly minimal. Most patients experience nothing more than redness, swelling, and mild pain, which subsides in less than two days. Another advantage of these laser cellulite treatments is the minimal downtime required, with most patients returning to normal activities within 24 hours of treatment.

It is important to understand the root cause of cellulite before proceeding with a treatment, as the treatment type may vary based on the cause of cellulite. In order to accurately determine the cause of cellulite, you should consult with an experienced dermatologist, like Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank.
